Scar Tissue Release

Scar Tissue Release is based on the principles of Myofascial Release. Myofascial release refers to soft tissue manipulation techniques and has become better known due to Ida Rolf who pioneered the fascial manipulative treatment known as ‘Rolfing’. However, STR is much more specific to the area involved.

Treatment is very slow and deliberate and the aim is to release the bonds that adhere scar tissue to surrounding structures. The involved tissues are stretched, slowly, in all directions. Work is initially done on the surface scarring, then gradually moving deeper into the tissues. Both manual techniques are used, as is occasional use of the PhysioTouch machine.
